During the jam-packed 2024 Xbox Showcase, Microsoft announced a range of new games and content, including the news that three new Xbox consoles will be released this year. Among these, the standout is the special edition Galaxy Black Xbox Series X.

Inspired by space exploration, the new console is set to arrive with a huge 2TB SSD and a fancy new controller to boot. That's incredibly exciting, especially for anyone in need of more storage, a new console, or simply a collector looking to expand their collection. While plenty of information was confirmed during the Showcase and subsequent announcement, one thing Microsoft remained silent on was when exactly the Galaxy Black Xbox Series X will be available to purchase.

The current status is "pre-orders coming soon", with Microsoft going on to say "Check back in the coming months to learn more about market availability and regional Estimated Retail Pricing (ERP) when we share pre-order details."

Unfortunately, this means the special edition console is not available to buy at this moment in time, although that could all change soon, especially with the console launching this year...

When will the Galaxy Black Xbox Series X become available to buy?

We don't know when pre-orders for the Galaxy Black Xbox will go live; however, we do have a rough estimate of when the console will be released.

As confirmed by Microsoft, the Galaxy Black Series X will launch during this year's holiday season. No date or month has been given yet, but if we go back to the "Check back in the coming months to learn more about market availability" line, it would seem like pre-orders could go live at least a month or so ahead of the drop date.
